Unconventional Clay

Join us for a hands-on intensive workshop led by award-winning artist Jodi Bowen and supported by the IPSARI team.

Using a quirky, body-positive subject—"Boob Cups"— we will break down the "stuffy" barriers associated with fine art.

An activity where technical skill meets social connection, proving that high-quality artistic instruction and a sense of humor are not mutually exclusive.

Participants will learn essential hand-building techniques, including pinching, shaping, and structural integrity, turning a raw lump of clay into a functional, sculptural vessel.

The workshop involves a two-stage creative process: hand-building the form and surface decoration using underglazes.

Because ceramics is a slow art form, the works will require a professional finishing cycle:

On-site: Students complete their build and underglaze painting.

Off-site: The pieces will be transported to Jodi’s studio for a controlled drying period, a bisque firing, the application of a clear gloss glaze (by Jodi), and a final high-temperature glaze firing.

Completion: The finished, food-safe works will be ready for collection approximately three weeks post-workshop.
