Folk'N'Shanty Night with Sue Ferrers and the Salty Sirens

A night of shanties and world folk with The Salty Sirens and Sue Ferrers.

Sue's musical journey is woven together by a deep passion for the rare and enchanting Nyckelharpa, an instrument she has played since 2010.

Between 1997 and 2004, Sue toured Europe extensively as violinist and vocalist with Popproperly, performing hundreds of concerts ranging from intimate unplugged venues to major open-air festivals across Europe. Living in Germany for two decades, she taught strings while building a career as a freelance violinist and nyckelharpist.

Her nyckelharpa albums highlight the instrument's haunting beauty. She is the only performer solely on nyckelharpa in Australia.

She is joined by Evan Clarry (guitar), Nicole Tate (harp), Benja King (double bass) and Dave Kemp (percussion).

Lovers of swell sea shanties and rollicking singalongs, The Salty Sirens are Kristy "Capstan"field (vocals and accordion) and Elyse "Fish"patrick (vocals and whale facts). Since 2021, they have been rocking boats the country wide with their flavour of sea shanties, SHE shanties and sea songs with a modern, queer twist, and now these sapphic sailors are sailing into Ipswich to lead you on a musical journey through traditional and modern nautical folk song, tales of shipwork, daring adventure, defiance and debauchery on the high seas. Hoist the anchor and limber up those sealegs - these really aren't your grandpa's sea shanties!
